Sometimes you just don’t have the budget to book a full-on studio but you have to get your music out one way or the other.

Usually when home recordings don’t sound very good, the problem is that the gear or techniques chosen are not right for that particular application.

A talented recording engineer can squeeze the best sounds out of inexpensive gear by carefully choosing the right mics and mic placements and having the experience to properly use preamps, compressors, eq etc. Often the sound is more likely to get tweaked at the source by tuning the drums extra carefully, using a different guitar/ amp combination, or having the vocal mic pointed at just the right angle.

If you would like to work with an engineer/ producer, but you cannot afford to work in a recording studio, I can provide my services with a mobile Pro Tools recording system and a few select pieces of outboard gear and microphones. This takes a little extra care and can be more time consuming than working in a professional recording studio, but if you are on a tight budget it is a great alternative. Usually in this scenario I recommend doing at least the mixing and mastering at a properly built recording studio.
